You hate your job.

Everyone hates their job. It's a fact of life. But you really hate your job. You've been on the verge of quitting countless times; in fact, most of your coworkers are shocked that you haven't. And yet, here you are, in your car, driving to work once again.

As you drive into the parking garage near your building, a strange feeling passes over you, as if something is wrong. You push the thought aside, though. It's probably just that you don't want to go to work.

You enter the lobby of the office building. Everything's eerily quiet. It's never this quiet. The usual throng of people running around and going about their business is gone. The sound of phones ringing and printers printing is absent. You can't even hear anyone talking in the background. All is silent.

The same feeling of dread passes over you again, as if something is very wrong. As if there's a dark force lurking in the building. But that's just crazy, you tell yourself. You ignore the feeling again. After all, you don't want to end up in the loony bin like your friend Scott.

You notice that the elevator's shut down. That's odd. It's always working. Oh well, you think, you'll just take the stairs. It's only five stories up.

Ugh.

You walk up the dark, lonely staircase. As you continue, though, the feeling comes over you again, as if something bad is waiting for you at the top of the stairs. By the time you reach the fourth floor it's almost overwhelming.

You're at a branch in the staircase. Your floor is just up the stairs. You're almost there. Still, you can't shake the feeling that you're making a mistake.

You have a decision to make.

  1. You decide to go up. You have to go to work to make a living.
  2. This is just too wierd. You go back down.
